This stunning Ruby and Diamond ring is one of our newest pieces to come into stock. The Ruby is a 0.75 carat with a beautiful cerise pink tone, it is surrounded by 10 diamonds at 0.03 of a carat each. It isn’t a hallmarked piece so we can not be sure on an exact date. With yellow gold split shoulders and white gold claw settings this piece is very beautiful. The white settings really show of the colour of the ruby and gives the diamonds the illusion of being bigger than they actually are. It is a very traditional ring, but is such a statement piece so it would make a stunning engagement ring or dress ring.

We love it, but what do you think?

Handmade Item of the Week : Diamond Set Engagement Ring DJH

It all began when a lovely young gentleman came into the shop with a group of old vintage rings that he had inherited, he wanted to use the diamonds and the gold to create something completely different for his girlfriend and now fiancé, as they were not to his taste. So after a long discussion to find out exactly what he wanted, Heather one of our onsite designers began drawing a few different designs for the customer to look at.

Once a decision had been made we set on with removing all the diamonds from the rings and melting down the remaining metal. From then we began long process of rolling and shaping the ring into something beautiful. After this process we then go ahead and set all the diamonds. He had chosen a setting that created a diamond shape, which gave the illusion of one very large diamond in the centre. There was then another three smaller diamonds set on each side of the shoulders to give the ring that extra sparkle.

It is one of our great joys reinventing old jewellery into something new and exciting, it means that the customer is able to keep the sentimentality and have something that nobody else has. I personally think the ring is fantastic and whilst photographing i genuinely did not want to remove it from my finger.

If you have some old Jewellery you want reinventing give visit our website or give us a call directly at the workshop 01142669192.

Handmade by David Hill

These are platinum handmade wedding rings designed to complement a very unusual scallop edge diamond set engagement ring. We designed the ladies ring to slot into her engagement ring perfectly, it reduces wear and feels more comfortable on the finger and creates a fantastic effect. She was very pleased with the finished product. Her fiancé wanted something to tie in with the theme but keeping it minimal and more masculine. So instead of scalloped edges we went with facets that followed the shape but kept a nice straight edge. We think the finished effect is one of the most unusual wedding rings we have made in recent years so we thought we would share it with the world.

This Weeks Favourite Item of Jewellery

We love this diamond ring because…

Originally this beautiful old cut diamond was part off a a larger five stone diamond ring, but our Jeweller David thought this diamond warranted a new lease off life. Old cut diamonds were cut by hand and polished on an old treadmill, this particular one is 75 points and although this diamond has an inclusion, the size and cut of the diamond make up for it. The way the diamond has been cut shows it to its best advantage and gives it an almost spider web like appearance, when you look at it from the top. We like old cut diamonds because they are unique, un like modern brilliant cut diamonds that are cut by machines and all exactly the same.

This diamond is not perfectly round and has more of a cushion shape which is why we chose a four claw setting which seemed to work really well with this diamond. You can tell an old cut diamond because the bottom point or cullet is usually polished flat creating a little circle when you look down from the table facet. It looks fantastic on and would make a perfect engagement ring for somebody who appreciates the beauty and uniqueness of old cut diamonds.
